Abstract

Roller chains are commonly used to transmit mechanical power in different kinds of Industry as conveyors, cars, motorcycles, food industry, sugar mill, paper mill, and fertilizer industry, cement industry coal mines, etc. This paper deals with the behavior of roller chink links used in the bike on using central rollers under required turning moment. Roller chain drives show the combined effect of belt drive and gear drive. As the addition of central rollers in chain load distribution takes place on the roller and tensile stress of the link plate is reduced. The main failure of the roller chain is due to the oval shape of holes provided for the pin in the plate. Roller chain elongation is reduced by using central rollers. Since a lot of work has been done on other components, in this paper the work is represented on the importance of rollers on chain drive by creating a CAD model of chain link sprocket assembly and simulating it by ANSYS Software.
